Ned Smith Center for Nature & Art | 2021 | Creative
Adam E. Steppy led a groundbreaking marketing initiative aimed at attracting younger patrons to the Ned Smith Center for Nature & Art by introducing a charming cast of forest characters, with the informal mascot known as Lil Red at the forefront. This innovative approach included featuring lil red and his companions in quarterly publications as part of "The Fox's Den," which offered educational articles tailored for children's enjoyment.

Much like the natural evolution from "Mr. Rogers Neighborhood" to "Daniel Tiger," the introduction of Lil Red and his friends marked a shift in appeal to a different generation, ushering in a new era of engagement and entertainment. Illustrated by the esteemed artist Travis Hoffman, these characters were not only visually captivating but also served as relatable figures for children to identify with. Adam's vision, combined with Travis's talent, breathed life into these forest characters, making them beloved symbols of
the Ned Smith Center's commitment to inclusivity and family-friendly
education and entertainment.
Through the introduction of Lil Red and his companions, the venue not only expanded its audience reach but also solidified its reputation as a welcoming and dynamic space for patrons of all ages to discover the Ned Smith Center for Nature & Art.
